Butterfly Dance

A two piece stag-antler Manju Netsuke.

Carved in relief with a figure performing a dance. The reverse simply carved with a Butterfly with wings outstretched in full flight, perhaps the natural degradation of the material on this side used to denote clouds.

Anonymous. Possibly Asakusa. Last quarter of the 19th Century.
