Kato Kiyomasa

A stag-antler musozutsu, carved in an irregular cloud shaped reserve with Kato Kiyomasa on horseback.

The technique, shishiabori more commonly encountered on manju from Tokyo studios. The himotoshi formed as pine branches.

Signed: Seishu (small seal panel missing). Probably Tokyo, perhaps the Asakusa district. Last half the 19th Century.
