Hatching Sparrow

An unusual wood model of a sparrow in the process of hatching from the egg.

The head and front portion of the wings broken through, the remainder still waiting to emerge. The artist Incorporated the himotoshi into the design. He disguised the apertures as broken parts of the eggshell. The wood bears a fine stain and finish and the eyes are inlaid in dark horn.
