Manju Dragon

A very large two piece ivory manju.

Profusely carved with a dragon writhing through clouds. As mentioned previously this piece is in two parts which has been hollowed out to lighten the weight. A metal peg has then been added for the himotoshi, the face plate of the peg is hammered with a planish decoration.

The ivory bears a light stain.

Signed: Ikko. Tsu. Early 19th Century. (Hasegawa Ikko).
